March Recap

March is definitely one of my slower months which I'm always grateful for right before a busy wedding season. Which means March was full of fun sessions, and styled shoots! I always love to either host or attend, getting to meet new vendors, models, and photographers is always a plus in this industry! This month was also filled with planning my first CHICAGO styled shoot with my friend Madison, I know next month is going to be good!

I got to host my annual Spring into Boudoir Styled Shoot again this year and we had an amazing turn out, I hosted the shoot at MI Studio Space in Wayland because of the sets the studio offers, I didn't have to hurry and find all the details to make the sets myself which was a super nice plus this year! The studio owner Emina does an awesome job of designing each set and it's always changing. Hair and makeup was provided by Blush Beauty and let me tell you those girls were so speedy! They had each model done and looking amazing in literally no time at all, so I highly recommend checking them out for any makeup needs! I was also able to learn a new lighting technique during the shoot and I've been practicing the whole month, I've been learning a lot with direct flash and off camera lighting this month and I feel like it's helped with my creativity so much!

Some of the new lighting I learned!

I attended my first styled shoot of the year that my friend Samantha Joy Photo was hosting. I honestly think these are the prettiest florals I've seen in a long time, the florist, Huff & Bloom Floral Co. did an amazing job! Sam always designs the prettiest sets to photograph, all the models, dresses, and even the cake was so so cute, I just loved getting to capture it all! I'm absolutely obsessed with every photo I took that day. I have another styled shoot to attend later this month in Chicago and I know it will be so colorful and so so fun!

Senior sessions are not something I get to do a ton of, but I get really excited when I do! I got to meet with Tristan and her mom last week for some senior portraits at one of my favorite studios located downtown Grand Rapids, so much natural light, its one of my favorites for sure! Tristan was so sweet to work with and I had such a fun time during her session! And this past weekend I got to meet with one of my favorite models to work with Sam, to practice my new lighting, I've never really worked with food as a prop before but I'm here for it, the limes were so much fun. Best believe the studio smelled incredible!

Couples studio sessions are becoming my new favorite thing ever, I met with Gabe and Holly right after Sam's styled shoot for a couples session. I wanted more editorial vibes for this session, and these two did not disappoint, they look so damn good! Sam and Huff & Bloom were kind enough to let me take one of the bouquets used for the styled shoot and I think it just added a nice feminine detail to the photos. There's a classiness to these photos that I love and that's why I chose to do some black and white edits as well, which I'm not usually a huge fan of, but these literally take my breath away!
